  • with it

On the bus this morning, a very elderly man got on.  Then a few stops later, a very elderly couple got on.  Evidentially they knew each other, so they greeted each other (speaking slowly and deliberately, the way elderly folk do).

Then they began to discuss global warming.

It was hilarious.   The one guy (very stuffy and overly seriously) began talking about the warming and the trends and the ice caps and his trip to Finland 10 years ago, and the other guy talked about the decade cycles and the statistical changes and the fact that "I'd rather not see that 33-inch snowfall again that we had back in '93...".

It's not the type of thing you'd expect to hear 80-year olds chatting about... :)

  • Hi Tim...my Dad is 90 and Mom is 87.  They are so funny...always talking about global warming; how cold Florida has become over the years, that they are glad to be 90 so they don't have to worry about such things any more....

Pls. pray for Mr. Cincotta...he is having bladder surgery tomorrow...8 hours of it; to remove his cancerous bladder and have a new one reconstructed from his stomach...

  • Funny story.   I'm glad you had a pleasent bus ride.

  • Ah, but these are the elderly in STATE COLLEGE. It's the land of the liberal! Still, I'd have chuckled, too. Thanks for a grin!

  • Furthermore, I tended to agree with the one guy a lot more than the other.  The one I agreed with also seemed to be a lot happier...

  • Maybe they had just rented "An Inconvient Truth"?

  • People used to revere the wisdom of their elders. Now we find it humorous. It is hard to imagine anyone taking evolution seriously when our new generations keep getting dumber.

  • Ha-ha!

I was wondering recently if you'd be passing through this way anytime soon...I assume that you're going "home" at some point over Christmas?
