  • well, I myself don't really enjoy tomatoes, so I guess I'm not too disappointed.  :)

On a serious note....  does this mean that NBC now owns VeggieTales and the Christian values will become obsolete?    Kinda makes me wonder why the owners of VT sold it to network like NBC.

How did your big exam go, BTW?  Hope all is well!

  • Congrats on the exam!  When do you graduate?   Any idea or dream with regard to what you'll do when you finish your doctorate?

I'm doing well.  Life is full of decisions right now with regard to what/where I should go/do for the next academic year. . .  decisions are something I've never been good at.  ;)    But, on the whole, life is good.  :)   Can't complain.

Did I tell you that our pastor will, as of October 10th, be retired?  This puts a new spin on what we discussed over Christmas. . .

  • You always find the most interesting things. If they do make the space elevator, it needs to be bright blue, just like the Tower of Babel supposedly was.

  • no more wholesome veggie tales??? I am very sad...

  • well... when you have a gospel of "sunday morning values with saturday morning fun" then perhaps nbc is actually doing the world a favor...

(with all due respect to the veggies!)

  • I very much appreciated your comments about the Wednesday CU chapel service... i read the blogs, listened to the message, and had some of the same thoughts. Thanks for seeking a balanced approach.

  • Why didn't the veggie tales people see this coming? I mean, if you allow a major network to buy your stuff, of course you're going to be censored.
(Praise God for your test results!)

  • Hmm, interesting about the space elevator...was the problem that God had with the Tower of Babel due to them building a tower to the heavens or the fact that they were not "filling the earth" as God had commanded?

Veggie comment:  It seems that other commenters here either did not know or forgot that Veggietales went bankrupt and was already bought by a secular company in 2003.  The new company has posted this release about the NBC situation:  http://www.bigidea.com/company/news/tv_statement.htm.  Wow, we are quick to judge our brothers...

  • Hmmm... I read the article Nick posted...   Instead of "Thanks for coming over to my house, kids. See you next week," I think I'd prefer to see Bob say something at the end like "I want to tell you all that God made you special and he loves you very much, but they told me I couldn't say that since this is public television.  So have a great day, and check out http://www.bigidea.com/etc to see 'the rest of the story'!"    :)

I know, fat chance of that.   It's the old question of 'how much do we capitulate to the world's anti-God view in the hopes of 'attracting seekers' to whom we can then share the full truth'...

Also, on the tower of Babel, Nick made a good point.. and also, I was realizing that in spite of the superficial similarity, the modern goal is not so much "defiance/independence-of-God," but rather "developing/ruling-the-earth-that-God-has-given-us" (even if not explicitly so), i.e. the exact mandate that God gave Adam and Eve and their descendents.

    Still, I wonder... :)

  • I think that NBC is just changing it to show in on their line-up.  The videos should stay the same...I think.  That's what I got from it.  Anyway, it's ridiculous to take that line out, but I'm not surprised.
