Bible reliability

  • Literary Devices

If you ever have time and interest, here's a neat 2-hour discussion about the problems with a modern theory that the authors of the gospels used "literary devices" to change the historical facts.

McGrew's book "The Mirror or the Mask" is also great on this topic!
  • Adam Eve and Genetics

Did Adam and Eve exist? Fascinating brief 13-minute interview from last week about modern genetic evidence confirming the literal understanding of Genesis.

  • James Tour - origin of life

Interesting video and article about origins...
The video is James Tour explaining more about how science can't explain the chemical/abiotic origin of life naturalistically (supporting the alternative, the Bible's history, that God created life). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4sP1E1Jd_Y

The article is a review of a book called "A fortunate universe", about the fine-tuning of the universe's constants. https://creation.com/a-fortunate-universe-review . It makes many excellent points and shows nice diagrams, and makes the good point that naturalistic "multiverse" explanations for the fine-tuning of the universe actually destroy scientific exploration entirely... Excerpt: "Realistically, multiverse thinking can have no place in science. Apart from being unobservable (and therefore untestable) it logically leads to the view that no data set should be regarded as evidence for anything. In a multiverse it could always occur by chance!"

As just one among many fun examples of the philosophical problems with multiverse theory, a student could go to her professor and say, "I really did do my homework, but sadly, this universe we live in just happened to be one of the universes where that extremely unlikely circumstance of my homework quantum-tunneling itself millions of miles away, actually took place this morning, right before class." And if the professor believed in multiverses, there would be no way to refute the student's explanation!

  • You don't "suck" - evidence for the fine-tuned universe...

This is a nice short video about the fine-tuning of the universe for life! God is a great designer.

  • Quran variants

This is an interesting video discussion of the differences in the Arabic Quran versions, and the many scribal changes which were made over the years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00k6BBe0NsQ

While the sources of the Quran are thousands of years old, the final standardized (canonized) version was not finalized until 1924 in Cairo.

Even today, many differing versions of the Arabic Quran exist. https://www.answering-islam.org/Green/seven.htm Many Muslims are not aware of this, and will confidently say that all Arabic Qurans around the world are identical and are identical to the ones used by M. I own copies of two of the different versions myself, and it is easy to see the differences, even if you don't read Arabic.

By contrast, Christians admit that the Bible manuscripts have picked up scribal textual variants over the centuries. But we have so many thousands of manuscripts that we can easily see where the variations were introduced, and in almost all cases we can deduce the original reading. Most Bibles these days show the variants in footnotes.

It is so great to be able to have the Word of God (the Bible) in readable form, so we can know our Creator, and read of His self-sacrificial love for us, and look forward to meeting Him face to face.

  • Abiogenesis - James Tour

This is a very nice hour-long lecture video by James Tour on the problems of the chemical abiogenesis scenarios. He talks about the fact that secular OOL chemical theory is basically no farther toward success than it was 60 years ago.
This is another example of the fact that science supports the Bible's account of the origin of life.
