'no atheists in foxholes'
Nice quote from Richard Fernandez:
"I have occasionally argued that “there are no atheists in foxholes” not just because people pray for survival but because they eventually realize they have to pray for forgiveness. We strive for righteousness; and the most righteous of all know how short of the mark they fall."

nice quote indeed... quotes like these that remind me that while the matrix of reality that we humans think of is frequently not the most significant. We think that in a foxhole there are no atheists because we would be scared for our life/afterlife, but perhaps it isn't of ourselves that we'll think first when death is near... but of how we are not right with others... and God.
