I am shocked.   My location is creeping into my life and radically changing me.

    Or at least my vocabulary.

Yesterday I used the following phrase for the first time ever, and didn't realize it until afterward:

"...needs worked on..."  instead of  "...needs to be worked on..."

    AAAHHHH!!!!!

    Oh well.

  • Aaargh!!

  • Wow, Central PA got to you quickly! Though I must admit, I'm still trying to fight it after being here for 9 years.....

as long as you don't succumb to "Hey, I'm going to the grocery store ~ want to come with?"

  • It's amazing how quickly you can pick up on phrases, I am ashamed to admit I now say Y'all (all the time).  However, I refuse to call my favorite carbonated beverage soda...it's pop and forever will be!

  • lol! I've picked up all kinds of regionalisms... I shan't share them with the general public here, though... ('cause one of them was mentioned in your second comment above...) oh, wait...... ;)
Btw, "ya'll" is a very useful linguistic construction! How else is one to differentiate between sing. and pl. second person?
