news addiction
A few weeks / months ago, I had a mild (or maybe not so mild) case of news-addiction (certain internet blogs and news sites). Recently I've felt too busy to read those sites very often, besides realizing that the news from around the world is pretty much "bad" all the time, though there is absolutely zero reason for me to be worried because Jesus Christ has already conquered and it's only a matter of time before He returns and crushes all badness.
So I've learned that I can live without reading the news. It's been interesting.
Have any of you ever had news-addictions, email addictions, internet-addictions, etc? cell phone addictions?

News-addiction, without a doubt...I listen to NPR all day long (it's a little left, but you get to hear "real" news stories). Email addiction not so much, but blogging addiction most definitely. Our Internet is always on and I must admit (sadly), I pop on the computer and check my three favorite sites umm, about ever fifteen minutes (sad I know)! However, one thing I am proud to admit is that I DO NOT own a cell phone, and hope I never will!
I am a little bit of a news junkie. Ok, maybe more then a little bit. I can stop anytime, really I can!
I'm kind of glad you put those other things in there... though I'm not sure that they're as "worthy" of addictions as one to reading the news. Definitely while I was overseas (in Japan in particular), I was addicted to the Internet... I'd be on for hours and not realize it! (im-ing, emailing, checking message boards, xangaing -- btw, don't you love how we make verbs of almost any noun in English?!) It's better now because of the limits placed on me. I have to use it mostly at school since viewing pictures with dial-up at home drives me crazy. Maybe we SHOULDN'T try to get high-speed at home....
Not so much with the news...but I am a little obsessive about seeing new email as soon as it comes in. I'm guessing, though, that adding a new baby to the house will break me of that habit pretty quickly!
Only book addictions. I always want to have a stack of books to read.
Yes - especially when I'm driving. I constantly have on WINS 1010 here in NY. Even if the kids want music or a tape of some kind; I will always work my way back to the News station. Never thought of it before. Hmmmm......
Have a great day!

We are as ready as we can be for another one. I'm sure everything will be pure chaios for a while though. I have always enjoyed my boys and am quite content without a girl. We actually felt a little relieved whrn we found out this would be a boy.
Ken is anti-cell phone, so I have never had a cell phone addiction. I think when I first started Xanga, I may have been an addict. Now I just don't have the time to be addicted to anything.
RYC: It was a collaborative effort, we often do things like that. "What if it sad this", "Oh that this would be good", this of course is accompanied by laughter and hysteria….
How are you doing on your anti-news stretch? (I say this as Talk of the Nation is playing in the background)!
News addictions, no. Internet addictions, cellphone addictions, email addictions... yes, yes, and yes. Oh my.
