He's right. It is a theological question, not an a matter of emotion. And the "catholic" literally means universal. And, the protestants of today are the children of Luther's reformation which was a splinter from the Roman Catholic Church. So, we protestants of today are more the children of the Catholic Church than not. Satan loves division. Such statements as that of the Pope only serve to divide, not consolidate. Yet Christ is still King and all believers are members of the Bride when they are regenerated by forgiveness of Jesus and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. So, sticks and stones and names... none matter in the temporal. Only the hope of Christ matters in the eternal.
Hi Tim - wanted to thank you for your prayers. The situation with my folks worked out better than expected. It's hard becoming old; and it's hard to be the child who has to decern whether we need to make decisions for our parents.
Also - I agree with your friend above. We are all from the Universal Catholic Church. My sister-in-law has converted to the Roman Catholic church; as have her two children. Please pray as Amanda continues to share with her cousins the love of Jesus; and that our sister-in-law will give up her idolitry of the saints and Mary and focus on our one true God.
In Him,
Mrs. Swift
The pope is right: The Vatican is the only legitimate heir to the charter of Christianity... isn't it?
... on second thoughts, FKIConfessor is right: the Pope serves Satan... and no other.
