  • It was my understanding that al-Qaida was in Iraq before we ever entered the picture.  Mr. Swift and I watched the President's Press Conferency yesterday morning....He's pretty amazing.  He does not falter at the criticism from the reporters or the House/Senate.  I am very struck by that.

I worry about our next President.  They will either be really, really, good, or really bad....It's going to be a hard decision.  I do worry about one or two candidates, especially, and can only pray that the Lord will make known His decision.

Have a blessed day.  I hope your Dad is ok.  Amanda said your "Gilmour" grandparents were having a hard time...please let your Dad know that he is in our prayers.

I am going through a difficult time with my folks also, right now.  My Dad is 91, my Mom is 88.  Pls. pray for the Lord's strenght during this time.

    Thanks.  Take care.

    Mrs. Swift

  • In reference to your comments about my comments on violence in movies--even if one maintains that Christ talks about legitimate use of power by government, etc. (and only confronts personal vegenance), the question would remain on whether most of the violence protrayed in movies is legitimate.  Most of it seems tied to personal vegenance/vendetta--I don't know if most of it is "self-defense" or fits into (if one holds to it) a "just war theory."  And the point that Romanowski makes, which is valid with both sex and violence, is that the portrayal in film often makes sex and violence seem a lot more common than it really is.

Of course, one must remember that 90% of the things I post are designed to prompt deeper thought and discussion--I like it when people push back because that means they have thought, processed, and are acting on it.
